The opportunity We are looking for an experienced and motivated Manager for one of our Valve Electrical Design teams at HVDC in Sweden. This team is responsible for the detailed electrical design of converter valves for HVDC and SVC applications. The Global Valve Electrical Design team currently comprises around 60 employees across four teams in three countries, with two teams based in Sweden and one each in India and China. In this role, you will play a crucial part in leading and driving your team as part of our strategic transformation program. This initiative aims to enhance our systematic quality approach, boost productivity, and facilitate further expansion by adding more team members. You will be a member of the Valves management team and report to the Head of the Valve Electrical Design team. We are looking for a communicative and experienced leader with a background in a similar position. Sr. Structural Dynamics Simulation Engineer

HVDC is currently seeking Senior Structural Dynamics Simulation Engineer to join the team. In this role, you will be part of Technology and Solutions Development for HVDC applications which is responsible for the development of new HVDC and SVC converter valves. HVDC converter valves are used to convert AC to DC, and vice versa, and are essential for HVDC power transmissions. SVC converter valves are used in SVC systems, to support and stabilize AC systems. The department you will be part of is mainly focusing on electrical and mechanical design and development activities and works in close collaboration with the global HVDC organization. As a Senior Structural Dynamics Simulations Engineer, your main tasks will be to conduct virtual testing and simulations for critical R&D projects. You will also be involved in studies and new product development, and you will support R&D teams on simulation designs and provide technical guidance. The team you will be joining are composed by energetic people, with mix of experienced and young engineers and colleagues from diverse nationalities around the world. We work closely with design teams and collaborate with engineering and research teams in Sweden and abroad, therefore it is essential that you are a team player and have great collaboration and communication skills. Your responsibilities Finite Element simulation of structures subject to all types of static and dynamic loads (fatigue, impulsive, Transportation, seismic, etc.) Run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their expected performances. Work in new product development projects focusing on valve mechanical design tasks involving multi-disciplinary areas – for example heat transfer, electrical insulation, strength of materials and manufacturing technologies. Perform CAD modeling and mechanical simulations using commercial software, preferably ABAQUS/ANSYS etc. to evaluate new converter valve designs in R&D projects. Participate in various product verification tests from early prototype testing to final verification of converter valve design and simulation models. Provide support and insight to R&D engineers based on design or simulations by sharing through technical discussion/ reports Drive failure analysis, RCA (Root cause analysis), and design of experiments (DOE). Your background A Master's degree or PhD in theoretical/applied mechanics, mechanical engineering, structural engineering, other related fields 15+ years of experience in mechanical static/dynamic simulation especially fatigue and seismic simulation. Strong knowledge of FEA tools is required and advance knowledge on fatigue and seismic standards (IEEE, IEC, EuroCode etc.) are desirable. Conducting tests in the laboratory and/or field to acquire data needed for simulation development and validation. Experience in Mechanical Design and simulation with strong proficiency in ANSYS/ABAQUS or similar software. Good collaboration and communication skills to thrive in multi-cultural environment. Innovative & creative thinking ability. Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Swedish will be an advantage.
